Nurie Chung

He is currently studying in Vienna with world-renowned Professor Boris Kuschnir, having previously studied with the late Professor Nam Yun Kim at the Korea National Institute for the Gifted in Arts until March 2023.

In 2021, at the age of 16, Nurie Chung won second prize at the 56th International Violin Competition “Premio Paganini” in Genoa, Italy, becoming one of the youngest prizewinners in the competition’s history. He also received two special prizes: one for the best performance of the commissioned work and the other for being the youngest finalist. He has won prizes at numerous national and international competitions.

He has performed extensively in Europe, particularly in Italy and Koper, Slovenia, as well as in Dubai with the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra and in Malta with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra. He has also worked with conductor Sergey Smbatyan on a Naxos recording project devoted to the music of Alexey Shor. He has appeared at prestigious cultural events and gala concerts, including the Korean Treasures Gala, organised by the Samsung Foundation of Culture in Washington DC; the Samsung HOAM Prize Ceremony in Seoul; and the Premio Don Uva festival in Apulia, Italy.
