Starting October 8, 2026, the Adam Mickiewicz University Auditorium in Poznań will host the 17th Henryk Wieniawski International Violin Competition – the world’s oldest running and one of its most prestigious violin competitions.
Fifty exceptionally talented violinists from around the globe, selected through preliminary rounds, will compete for victory, a prize pool totaling €120,000 (including €60,000 for the first-place winner), and numerous special awards. Their performances will be evaluated by an international jury chaired by Bartłomiej Nizioł.
This year’s edition features a thoughtfully curated repertoire structure. The first stage is entirely dedicated to Henryk Wieniawski’s mastery, while subsequent rounds challenge young artists with demanding Polish and international violin literature, culminating in performances of one of the Patron’s two violin concertos alongside the Poznań Philharmonic Orchestra.
